Oh, boy, when I make a mistake, it’s a big one. In this case it was not thinking carefully before I posted a photo from the Yo San University event honoring Robert Downey Jr.
Folks, the photo of RDJ chatting with the little girl should not have been posted. She is a minor child and I should have asked permission from her family before posting it. It’s a lovely and touching photo, but it’s exploitative of the child and I should have considered that before posting. I was only thinking what a great photo it was and what a wonderful story it told, but my first consideration should have been for the privacy of the child and her family. My fault entirely.
May I ask your help in this? Please, anyone who has reblogged that photo, could you remove/take it down from your Tumblr blog as soon as possible? I would not want this mistake to possibly reflect badly on RDJ or on our Tumblr community here. I know it’s very difficult to recall something that’s already gone out on social media, but I also know our group here is a bunch of good people and we can band together to do this. I am going to make it possible to answer this post, so please, when you take that photo down, could you let me know? (And if anyone knows of an easier way to remove a photo once it’s been reblogged so many times, please let me know. I have already contacted Tumblr Support to see if they can help, but no answer yet, so I’m reaching out to all of you directly.)
I’m sorry to have to ask it of you, but out of respect for the family, for this great Yo San event that has provided so many pictures, and for RDJ, I humbly ask your assistance in this matter. To make up for it I promise I will post more photos that we do have permission to share.
MANY THANKS - and many apologies, again!!!
